"I came in (to the retreat) a wilted flower. Wilted because of fear, anger and confusion. Not wanting to embark on this task that was laid before me. Afraid to face my demons. Afraid to change. Afraid to feel the pain. Unaware that I was already feeling the pain. More pain than I could imagine.
With great trepidation, I walked through the front door. Clueless that I had just literally walked through the door to healing, forgiveness, calmness and peace. Peace with the world, but most importantly peace with myself.
My demons may not all be gone, but I can choose when to face them with courage, strength, and optimism. I may not be that fully blossomed flower, but I am well on my way. My journey started many years ago. It started the day I was born and I chose many paths to get to this path of healing, courage, and strength.
What I discovered was I always had the courage and strength, but it got lost. My demons have turned into courage and strength. Maybe not fully and beautifully yet. But that is only temporary. I don’t need to run anymore. I can stand strong and bend with the wind as the storms pass through and not break.
I will rise to meet the challenges that lie ahead. As I leave this cocoon of safety and healing, I will remain true to myself and not get lost on the turbulent sea again."
