“After twelve years of loving this man, I had no idea what was happening to him or who he had become. Certainly, I knew he was depressed, but it was becoming increasingly impossible to reach him. Where did this come from? Where was it going? I was watching someone very much alive, die. It was as if he were living in black and white. I was angry and scared. Angry at him, at life, and at myself for not being able to reach him. He could not cope and I could not cope. When the VA diagnosed him with PTSD, it began to make sense, but unfortunately a diagnosis didn’t help him heal or ‘return home to us’. The tools taught in the Warrior Connection changed that for me...and for him. They helped me deal with my fear and I understood how he was being taught to deal with things. I was no longer alone in this... nor was he. I am not being dramatic when I say not only are we connecting again, but he is connecting back to the person he was and to our children and our extended family. He is also connecting to other veterans…a support system that enables him to serve (and be served). Simply put, the Warrior Connection has taught my warrior how to connect to passion and joy again, to feel again and to stop living in black and white and instead live in the full spectrum of colors life offers…to connect to those things his invisible wounds and scars seemingly took away. I am forever grateful; this saved our marriage and probably his life."
